How Do You Use a TEREA Stick, From Insert to Finish?

Quick answer: Slide the TEREA stick into your IQOS ILUMA i up to the line on the filter. The holder buzzes and starts heating. Wait for the second buzz, then puff as normal. Near the end it buzzes again, and that’s your last 30 seconds or 2 puffs. Pull the stick out and use a new one next time.

People get mixed up over the name. The UAE guides often say “SMARTCORE STICKS”. Don’t worry. It’s the same stick. The IQOS site calls them “TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS” too. Wondering what’s inside one? Our what is TEREA page explains it.

How do you insert a TEREA stick?

Tobacco end goes in first. Push until you reach the line on the filter, then stop. That’s all there is to it. You’ll feel a short buzz. No need to force it.

Here’s the whole routine from start to finish:

1. Check there’s charge. No charge means no heat.
2. Insert the stick up to the filter line. On the ILUMA i ONE, slide the cap open first.
3. Let it heat. It usually starts by itself after that first buzz.
4. Wait for the second buzz. Now it’s ready.
5. Puff at your own pace. No button needed.
6. When it buzzes near the end, finish up.
7. Take the stick out. On the ONE, close the cap too.

Didn’t start on its own? Swipe up on the touch screen of an ILUMA i or PRIME. On the ONE, press the button for a second.

How long does one stick last?

A stick lasts up to 6 minutes. The UAE guides give that as the limit. FlexPuff doesn’t change it.

What’s FlexPuff? It’s a feature that watches how you use the stick. It may hand you 4 extra puffs, but they still have to fit inside those 6 minutes. You may not get them every time, since it depends on how you puff.

Pause Mode changes things a little on the ILUMA i and PRIME. You can stop once. Do it in the first 3 minutes or the first 8 puffs. The pause can run up to 8 minutes. After that the holder switches off. FlexPuff won’t run on a paused stick. You can’t have both.

How do you know a stick is finished?

The buzz tells you. That last buzz means you’ve got 30 seconds left, or 2 puffs.

You can also keep an eye on the lights. The ILUMA i and PRIME have a Light Guide. It goes around the touch screen and counts down. On the ONE, the status lights do that job. If FlexPuff has given you extra puffs, the Light Guide shows that as well.

What about the stick itself? Take it out and bin it as the safety leaflet in your box explains. IQOS also runs a return scheme in the UAE. You get a free bag at an IQOS Boutique or a participating store. Once it’s full, it goes in their recycling bin.

What mistakes spoil the taste?

The official guides don’t list taste faults by name. They do give rules, though, and these are the slips we’d watch for:

• Puffing too soon. Wait for that second buzz.
• Stopping short of the line. Go in as far as the filter line.
• Using an old stick again. Every stick is single use.
• Pulling it out halfway. On the ONE, that ends your session.
• A half swipe. Pause needs a swipe down the whole screen.
• Using the wrong device. TEREA is only for ILUMA. Older IQOS models can get damaged.

Can you use one stick straight after another?

Yes, as long as there’s charge left. The ILUMA i ONE is the easy one. It gives you 20 uses per charge.

The ILUMA i and PRIME work a bit differently. In Performance Mode, the default, you get up to 3 uses in a row. Use Pause on one of them and that drops to 2. Eco Mode is set for one use at a time, and Pause isn’t available there. You can only switch modes through the IQOS app.

Look at the screen before you start. It shows dashes. One or two dashes? You’ve got at least one session left. A zero means the battery is flat, so put the holder back in its Pocket Charger.

You don’t light it. The device heats the tobacco and nothing burns, so you won’t need a lighter and there’s no ash. Put it in up to the filter line, wait for the second buzz and draw on the filter.

Can you reuse a TEREA stick?

No. Each stick is single use. The IQOS guide is clear on that. Don’t put a used one back in. Start your next session with a new stick.
