What Do the Lights on BONDS by IQOS Mean?
Quick answer: White lights are normal on BONDS by IQOS. They show your charge, and how long the session has left. Yellow blinking three times? The battery’s low. Red blinking? Reset it. Keep the button pressed. It buzzes three times. Then let go. Ten seconds or so. Still red after that? Then it’s one for IQOS support.
What is BONDS by IQOS? It’s the small one-piece heated tobacco device. One button. Four little lights. It takes BLENDS ROUNDHEAT sticks, not TEREA. Learn the code and those lights tell you plenty.
Everything here comes from IQOS’s own UAE support pages and the leaflet in the box. Both are written for BONDS 2 by IQOS. Where they say nothing, so do we.
What does a blinking white light mean?
Most of the time, a white blink is good news. It depends on how many lights blink and when.
Plugged in? One light flashes white. The others stay solid. That’s charging. As the charge builds, more lights join in. Full? All four come on for 3 seconds. Then they fade. From empty, plan on about 120 minutes with a compatible adaptor.
All the lights blink white twice? Temperature. BONDS works between 0°C and 40°C, and outside that it just refuses. Was it in a parked car all afternoon? Let it rest indoors. Then try.
Lights pulsing up and down? That’s cool-down mode. BONDS gives you three sessions in a row, then it rests for about 4 minutes. It won’t charge during that rest either. Wait it out.
Lights blinking slowly while it’s on charge? That points to the adaptor. IQOS asks for one that delivers 10W (2A, 5V) with the PSE safety mark. Anything weaker and charging can run past 2 hours. The USB cable from an IQOS Originals DUO fits, if you have one.
Hold the button for 4 seconds and the lights fade in slowly? That’s just switching on. They ramp up, then show the battery level.
What does a yellow light mean?
Yellow means low battery. Nothing’s broken.
Three yellow blinks and no session? The battery’s run down. Put it on charge. A wall socket with a proper adaptor is best. IQOS says to avoid charging from a laptop or a power bank.
Charging but nothing’s happening? Look at the port. Dust gets in. IQOS suggests blowing gently to clear it. Check the cable end too.
No lights at all? Then it’s either switched off or flat. Hold the button for 4 seconds. Still dark? Charge it for a while and try again.

What does a red light mean?
A blinking red light means one of two things. Either the device has hit an error that a reset may clear, or it’s charging too slowly. Try the reset first. It takes ten seconds.
- Press the ON/OFF button and keep holding it.
- Count to ten. The device buzzes three times while you hold.
- Let go.
- All the lights go off and come back on. Two slow blinks. Then they ramp up to the battery level. That’s the reset done.
Then charge it and try a fresh stick.
Red keeps coming back after a reset? That’s beyond what a reset fixes. Contact IQOS customer care in the UAE. The warranty runs 12 months from purchase. No activation needed. Registering with IQOS is optional. It does make a claim easier.

What do the lights do during a normal session?
They count you in, and then they count you down.
Slide the top open. Push a ROUNDHEAT stick in up to the line on the filter, filter facing out. Press the button and hold it. The device buzzes and the lights pulse. That’s the heat-up, about 30 seconds. A second buzz comes, and the lights go steady. Now you’re ready.
A session runs up to 5 minutes. The lights drop away as the time goes. One buzz, and a single light pulsing white, means half a minute to go. When the lights go out, it’s over. Pull the stick out and slide the top shut.
Don’t move or twist the stick mid-session. That’s the most common way to spoil it.
Want to check the battery? Short press the button. Four solid lights is full. Three is 75%. Two is half. One is 25%. A full charge is good for up to 28 sessions.
Does BONDS 2 use the same lights?
Every pattern on this page is the BONDS 2 by IQOS one. That’s the model IQOS documents for the UAE. The UAE support pages say BONDS 2. So does the UAE leaflet. The headings just say BONDS.
Got an older first-generation BONDS? IQOS doesn’t publish a separate chart for it on the UAE site. We’d rather not guess at it. Check the leaflet that came in your box, or ask IQOS support for your exact model.
Which sticks go in BONDS by IQOS?
Only ROUNDHEAT sticks. In the UAE that means BLENDS. TEREA doesn’t fit, and HEETS doesn’t either. Three sticks, three devices. Our post on TEREA and BONDS by IQOS compatibility sorts them out.
