What is TEREA?

TEREA is Philip Morris's heated tobacco stick for the IQOS ILUMA range. It arrived with the first ILUMA in Japan in August 2021 and has since reached many other markets, the UAE included.

The idea is simple. Inside every stick there's a thin metal strip. When you put the stick into an ILUMA, the device heats that strip by induction, which warms the tobacco from the inside instead of burning it. Philip Morris calls this the SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM. Nothing touches a blade and the tobacco stays inside the stick, so the device doesn't need cleaning.

One stick lasts up to 14 puffs or about 6 minutes. Sticks come in packs of 20, and a carton holds 10 packs.

TEREA and IQOS: which devices work?

• Works with: IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA Prime, ILUMA One, ILUMA i, ILUMA i Prime and ILUMA i One.
• Doesn't work with: IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 3 MULTI, IQOS ORIGINALS and any other blade device.

Older IQOS devices use HEETS, which heat on a blade. TEREA must never be pushed onto a blade, and HEETS won't heat in an ILUMA. Buying a device as well? The ILUMA i range is on our IQOS page, and you can put the device and your sticks in the same order.

The different types of TEREA sticks

Broadly, TEREA comes in five styles:

• Tobacco: no menthol, from light Silver to fuller Sienna.
• Menthol and mint: from gentle Turquoise up to deep Blue. They're all on our menthol and mint page.
• Menthol with fruit: Purple Wave and several Japanese editions.
• Pearl sticks: a small capsule in the filter that you press to add a fruit or floral aroma. See the Pearl range.
• Clove editions: Indonesian sticks that pair tobacco with clove. See the Editions.

Our TEREA flavour guide goes through each one in more detail.

Shop TEREA by country

The same flavour is often made for several countries, each with its own packaging and warning text. A few flavours are only made for one market. Here's what each of our country ranges looks like:

The TEREA flavours people look for most

Going by search interest in the UAE, these four come up the most:

1. TEREA Silver: light, balanced tobacco.
2. TEREA Turquoise: light menthol with a zesty edge.
3. TEREA Purple Wave: deep menthol and dark fruit.
4. TEREA Amber: medium, toasted tobacco.

Questions about TEREA

Is TEREA the same as HEETS?

No. HEETS are for the older blade IQOS devices. TEREA is for ILUMA. Each only works in its own type of device.

Do TEREA sticks work with IQOS 3 DUO?

No. The IQOS 3 DUO heats with a blade, and TEREA must not be used in it. You'll need an ILUMA or ILUMA i.

How many sticks are in a TEREA pack and carton?

A pack has 20 sticks. A carton has 10 packs, so 200 sticks.

Can I get TEREA delivered today in Dubai?

Yes. Most Dubai orders arrive in about an hour.

Do you sell the Japanese TEREA editions?

Yes. We currently have 12 sticks from Japan, including Japan-only menthols. You'll find them on our TEREA Japan page.

Can I order an ILUMA device and TEREA together?

Yes. Add both to your basket and check out once.

How do I know my TEREA is genuine?

Our cartons arrive sealed, with sealed packs inside. If anything about a carton looks wrong when it arrives, keep it sealed and contact us.
